What is FTP?

    FTP, short for File Transfer Protocol, is a means of transferring files from one computer to another. Most commonly this is used to communicate between desktops and servers hosting your website so that you can update it.

How do I connect using Cyberduck?

    Cyberduck is a free FTP program that operates on both Windows and Mac which you can download here.
  • Before you begin, you'll need to contact your host
  • ​If it isn't Siteserver, make sure you have the following
    • ​IP address of the server hosting your website
    • Your Username
    • Your Password
  • Once you've opened up CyberDuck you'll need to add a new connection
    • To do this, click on the + button in the bottom left corner
  • dialogue box will open up
  • Fill in the fields with your IP Address and Username
  • Make sure that the Port remains as Port 21
  • Close the dialogue box
  • You will now see a server added to your list of Bookmarks
  • Double click on the book mark and Cyberduck will connect to the server
  • At this point you will be asked to enter your password
  • Enter your password and click login and you'll be connected to the server
  • At this point you will be able to drag and drop files from your computer to upload them to the server
  • FTP Away!
